How to Start Playing Hockey as an Adult
Many adults take up hockey later in life, and many communities have programs for them.
Learn to skate first
Comfort on skates matters more than anything else. Take a basic skating class to learn balance, stopping and turning.
Get the right gear
Protective equipment is essential: helmet, gloves, pads and a mouth guard are standard. Borrow or rent items to begin with, and buy gradually.
Find a beginner group
Look for adult learn-to-play programs and recreational leagues. Say you are new, and most groups will be welcoming.
